OUR APPROACH

The Nevada Business Opportunity Fund’s (NBOF) mission is to enhance the economic self-sufficiency and quality of life of low to moderate income individuals through entrepreneurial training, technical assistance and access to lending for new and expanding businesses throughout the state of Nevada.

We accomplish this by delivering the financial and educational infrastructure needed for aspiring and current entrepreneurs to start or expand their small businesses. The NBOF staff possess exceptional skills in providing microlending and technical assistance services to underserved business communities. NBOF works with a variety of Certified Development Financial Institutions (CDFI’s) across the nation to package loans for a variety of loan options that include microloans, small business loans. The lending products are geared to borrowers who earn an average annual income at or below 80% of the median household income level in the area where they live and/or operate in retail, manufacturing and service-based businesses in underserved areas of Nevada, as well as entrepreneurs with less than good credit.

NBOF is also the host of the Nevada Women’s Business Center (NWBC), the only Small Business Administration’s Women’s Business Center in the State of Nevada. NWBC offers technical assistance tools that entrepreneurs need to successfully start and/or expand their businesses, such as professional business counseling, workshops, conferences and information services. NBOF/NWBC’s programs and services guide micro-entrepreneurs and small business owners to achieve growth and sustainability, increasing the number of successful businesses, job openings and self-employment opportunities throughout the state.
