GROWTH
Over the last two years, NBOF has delivered over $4,206,000 in direct lending (57% to minority- and women-owned businesses) while establishing 93 new small businesses and assisting in creating and retaining 242 jobs across the state of Nevada. In NBOF’s previous fiscal year, the WBC saw 2,980 people attend workshops and webinars and 497 clients receive one-on-one business guidance. In 2016, Leanna Jenkins, Executive Director of NBOF and the NWBC, was named the Women’s Business Advocate of the Year by the Nevada Small Business Administration and in 2017 Nevada Business Opportunity Fund received the Rising Star award from the Nevada Small Business Administration because of the number of loans they were able to provide entrepreneurs throughout the state of Nevada. In 2018 Ms. Jenkins received the WODA (Woman of Distinction) Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners, Southern Nevada.
TOOLS
The Nevada Women’s Business Center (NWBC) offers entrepreneurs essential tools for starting and expanding their businesses, including one-on-one consulting. NBOF’s business consultants assist with implementation of funding requests, continuing business performance and specialized marketing assistance. In addition, the NWBC initiates a range of workshops and conferences and provides access to small business webinars, which provides aspiring entrepreneurs with a thorough understanding of how to run a small business. These programs collectively enhance the sustainability of communities where low- and moderate-income business owners live and work. All training can be viewed online to remove the geographical barrier of not being able to attend the training in person. NBOF is designed to create an environment for guiding low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs and business owners across Nevada (with a focus on women and minorities) to find affordable loans and ensure that their enterprises achieve stability and growth.
